The study of a world region is intended to provide liberal arts majors with a broad, integrated overview of the influences that have shaped, and continue to shape, its internal evolution as well as the role it plays in the world. The African studies major introduces students to the cultural, economic, historical and political forces, arising inside and outside the continent, that have combined to determine the past, present and future of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree are required to complete a foreign language minor in a language appropriate to the chosen specialization.
Those choosing to complete the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree must complete a minor in one of the following areas: Agribusiness, City and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, General Business, Geographic Information Science, or Global Public Health.
