Office of International Affairs
The Office of International Affairs (OIA) champions innovative cross-cultural interactions through teaching, learning and outreach, collaborates with international constituencies, and advances new knowledge to integrate and elevate a globally engaged Ohio State. OIA manages study abroad & global education for all Ohio State students, works with incoming international students, and runs Ohio State's area studies centers.

Area Studies Centers
Ohio State University is home to five area studies centers focused on major world regions. Housed within the Office of International Affairs, these centers provide academic activities, funding, and outreach that include advanced foreign language training, area studies, and international relations to ensure a steady supply of graduates with expertise in less commonly taught languages, world areas, and transnational trends.

OSU Language Departments
Ohio State offers courses in 30 different languages with options to major and minor in many of them. Seven language departments are housed within the College of Arts & Sciences, along with the Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

Mershon Center for International Security Studies
The Mershon Center explores the human and social dimensions of complex security challenges. Through research and engagement, we reframe the big issues as we create new models for ground-level problem-solving. Additional endowments support faculty chairs in national security, military history, and peace studies, along with research, outreach, and scholarships in peace studies.
