The Undergraduate International Studies Program is a multidisciplinary program that offers eleven majors and thirteen minors, some specializing in specific regions of the world and some in topics of concern to the global community. The program was created in 1943 with a view to introducing students to both the diversity of the world around them and America’s place in it. This vision continues to inform the program in today’s more complex and globalized world.
Offering BA and BS options, the program is designed to endow students with advanced analytical, writing and critical-thinking skills along with foreign language or technical expertise that will help them become informed leaders and practitioners on international issues. It provides a rigorous liberal arts education that gives students the cross-cultural, professional and technical skills needed to prosper at home and abroad.
