This hands on course will focus on information security governance tools and processes. Students will learn the basic structures and activities used by Information Security professionals to manage information security and cyber risks which threaten us as individuals and organizations.

This course provides a broad overview of information security, focusing on risk management methodologies and the collaboration between security professionals and other organizational functions. Students will hear from multiple industry-expert guest speakers who will discuss the fundamental structures and activities used by Information Security professionals to manage cyber risks that threaten individuals and organizations. This knowledge will help students understand information security risks within broader organizational, political, and societal contexts.

Course activities will include a one-on-one interview with an industry expert, organizational and threat analysis, the development of continuity and threat mitigation plans, analysis of industry standards and frameworks, and an investigation of cyber laws and regulations.
