This is an upper-level, in-person, undergraduate, three-credit course that offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary China’s evolving roles on the global stage. Students will explore key topics such as diplomacy, trade, technology, and global governance, and examine how China’s expanding influence is reshaping them. The course emphasizes China’s deepening connections with diverse regions, peoples, and governments, encouraging students to critically assess the implications of these relationships..

The course is structured around lectures, activities inside and outside the classroom, and presentations by topic experts. The primary goals of this course are to build knowledge about China and enrich students’ understanding of their own relationship to this new, emerging superpower.
