The Book of Jonah and Its Interpreters with Dr. Daniel Frank

One of the strangest books of the Bible, Jonah presents several anomalies: a rebellious prophet seeking to escape a divine commission; a shipful of pious, non-Israelite sailors; a city of repentant Assyrians; a miraculous, shady plant; and, of course, that big fish. Struggling with this story over the centuries, Jews and Christians have developed interpretations even more fantastic than the original. This lecture will explore Jonah and its significance.
