This course will provide interested undergraduates from different background with an introduction to ethics and technology so that they may think more systematically about controversial issues in information technology. It will introduce students to several different schools of ethical thinking so that they may better understand how to reconcile their own values and priorities with those of others.
It will also present them with a survey of the challenges that we must overcome in order to maximize the benefits (and minimize the risks) that information technologies pose to our private lives, our national security, and our social and economic well-being.
