Look in any anthology of "classical" (i.e. medieval) Persian poetry and  you would be lucky to find more than two women poets listed, and it's always the same two. But in reality there were fine women poets writing in Persian in virtually every generation from the 10th century on; this talk will examine the work of four of these poets and the extraordinary range of their poetry (witty, feisty, bawdy, plaintive, grieving, angry, contemptuous …).
