EASC FLAS Fellowships for Undergraduate Students

Application Deadline: Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 4:30 p.m. EST

These fellowships are available to undergraduate students of junior or senior standing at the time of the fellowship with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4. All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Further eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • SPECIAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR SUMMER 2022: Summer 2022 undergraduate fellowships are restricted to students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields; for a list of relevant majors, see https://undergrad.osu.edu/majors-and-academics/more-ways-to-explore/pathway/3 or consult EASC with any eligibility questions. Additionally, students must have successfully completed two levels of East Asian language study at the college level before the start of the fellowship.
  • SPECIAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2022-2023: Academic Year 2022-2023 undergraduate fellowships are open to students in any major. Students must have successfully completed three levels of East Asian language study at the college level before the start of the fellowship.

For undergraduate students, Summer 2022 fellowships are expected to cover $5,000 in tuition and fees and also provide a $2,500 stipend. Academic Year 2022-23 fellowships are expected to contribute $10,000 towards tuition and fees and also provide a $5,000 stipend.

Subject to approval, FLAS fellowships may also be used for foreign language and area studies at other U.S. or foreign institutions so long as travel restrictions are not in place by the US Department of Education or The Ohio State University.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of the following information sessions which will take place via Zoom. Registration is required.

  • Tuesday, November 30, 2021, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. REGISTER
  • Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. REGISTER
  • Tuesday, January 11, 2022, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. REGISTER
